WPT Australia 2026 Schedule Sets Out 36 Events in Sydney

The World Poker Tour is scheduled to return to The Star Sydney for its 2026 WPT Australia festival, with a program that combines two championship events, satellites, bounty tournaments, Pot-Limit Omaha events, and other side tournaments.

The A$1,500 WPT Prime Australia Championship is scheduled for September 17 to 22, followed by the A$5,000 WPT Australia Championship from September 24 to 30. Both headline events are scheduled to use four starting flights and conclude with livestreamed final tables.

Two championship events anchor the festival

The WPT Prime Australia Championship begins with four starting flights before reaching Day 2 on September 21. Its final tournament day is scheduled for September 22, giving the event a six-day window within the festival calendar.

The higher buy-in WPT Australia Championship also has four starting flights. Day 2 is scheduled for September 27, with subsequent tournament days continuing through September 30, when the event is due to conclude with its livestreamed final table.

The two events provide separate championship markers, with the Prime event carrying a A$1,500 buy-in and the WPT Australia Championship carrying a A$5,000 buy-in.

Buy-ins and formats across the wider schedule

The wider schedule begins with the A$1,250 Australian Poker Cup, scheduled for September 10 to 14. The A$500 Ladies Australian Championship follows on September 15 and 16, while the A$1,350 Mystery Bounty is scheduled for September 21 to 23.

The A$10,000 WPT Australia High Roller is listed for September 23 and 24. A A$2,000 Mini Championship is also part of the program, along with the A$1,150 WPT Prime World Champs Warm-Up on September 29 and 30.

Pot-Limit Omaha has two listed events: the A$1,150 Sydney PLO Open and the A$5,000 Australian PLO Championship. The latter is scheduled for September 29 and 30. Satellites are also scheduled to provide qualification routes into several featured tournaments, including both WPT championship events.

Key events are concentrated in the second half of September

The 21-day festival runs from September 10 through September 30, with 36 tournaments scheduled across the period. Several events overlap, including the Mystery Bounty during the closing stages of the WPT Prime Australia Championship and the WPT Australia High Roller alongside the opening period of the main championship.

The final days contain several separate attractions. The WPT Australia Championship is scheduled to continue through September 30, while the Mini Championship runs from September 27 to 28 and the WPT Prime World Champs Warm-Up runs from September 29 to 30. The Australian PLO Championship shares those final two dates.

Adam Pliska, WPT CEO, said the tour was pleased to return to The Star Sydney and expected players from around the globe. The schedule gives international players and local entrants a calendar that includes championship tournaments, high roller competition, mixed formats, and satellite routes.
