Finding Your Break-Even Point
Amateur poker players bluff based on intuition, fear, or a “gut feeling” that their opponent is weak. Professional players bluff based on a simple, unbreakable mathematical formula, Risk vs. Reward. To transition to a winning GTO strategy, you must stop guessing your bet sizes and start calculating your Break-Even Percentage. This calculator is designed to tell you exactly how often your bluff needs to succeed for it to be a mathematically profitable (+EV) play.

Find out exactly how often your bluff needs to succeed to be a profitable (+EV) play.
What is the Break-Even Point?
The break-even point is the exact frequency your opponent must fold to your bet for your bluff to show a profit of $0.00 over the long run.
- If they fold more often than the break-even percentage, your bluff is profitable (+EV).
- If they fold less often, your bluff is losing you money (-EV).
The Core Formula – The math behind the tool is straightforward:
Risk / (Risk + Reward)
- Risk: The amount of chips you are betting (your bluff size).
- Reward: The current size of the pot before you bet.
How to Use This Tool?
- Input the Pot: Enter the current size of the pot.
- Test a Sizing: Use the quick sizing buttons (1/2 pot, 3/4 pot, etc.) or manually type in the amount you want to bluff.
- Analyze the Target: Look at the Required Success Rate.
- The Final Question: Ask yourself, “Given the board texture and my opponent’s tendencies, will they fold more than X% of their range here?” If the answer is yes, fire the bluff. If the answer is no, check or fold.
